Dance Academy Little Dancers dance class for
16-24 month-olds with Kim Breiland
Excited moms and indifferent 1-1/2-year-olds (they had no idea what was coming) gathered in the big dance studio at Stages Dance Academy to learn from long-time children's dance instructor Kim Breiland. Her classes for toddlers are taught to upbeat, familiar children’s music.
Our group romped to the beat, stretched and wiggled, stomped and hopped. Kim uses scarves, teddy bears, musical instruments, balls and a parachutes to give young ones the chance to strut their stuff. The teacher takes cues from the children and adjusts the class to the rhythm of the students.

I thought the dance class was great. I think Orla loved it too!
At times, I thought the teddies & the balls were too much of a
distraction for the kids, but then I could also see how she used
them to get their attention.
I found when we went back yesterday, Orla paid more attention and
got into the stamping, stretching, touching her toes etc more & more
as the class went on, so I'm really interested to see what the next
few weeks bring! -Alli and Orla Bevan
I found the class was a bit loud being in that big room, so once it is moved into the smaller room that they usually use for this age group, I think it would be perfect. Nicole did not really participate much in the class, but she did some of the dancing at home the next day, so I could tell it made an impression. I think we will try it again. -- Shauna
